How-To Product Guides

Custom Toy Production Quality Control Checklist

This custom toy production quality control checklist helps buyers monitor logo printing, packaging, function checks and shipment readiness before final payment or dispatch. It is designed for low MOQ promotional toy orders where the buyer still needs professional control without a large inspection budget.

Three-stage quality control plan

Stage What to check Best timing
Pre-production Approved sample, logo artwork, packaging layout, warnings, barcode and color reference. Before mass production starts.
During production First finished units, print alignment, function test, material color, assembly and packaging fit. After the first production units are available.
Pre-shipment Quantity, carton marks, random product checks, packing list, photos and shipping documents. Before balance payment or pickup.

Product checks for custom toy orders

  • Compare mass production units with the approved sample photo.
  • Check product color against the approved color sample or Pantone reference.
  • Confirm logo position, size, color and print clarity.
  • Check sharp edges, loose parts, visible scratches, stains or assembly gaps.
  • For electronic toys, test sound, light, buttons, charging port, battery compartment and switch function.
  • For mini fans, check blade guard, speed mode, charging cable and battery warning label.
  • For plastic fidget toys, check movement, joints, surface finish and small part risk.

Logo printing quality checks

Logo printing is often the most visible customization point. Ask for clear close-up photos under normal light before shipment.

  • Logo is centered and aligned with the agreed print area.
  • Color matches the approved proof as closely as the printing method allows.
  • No obvious smearing, missing strokes, double printing or uneven ink.
  • Logo size is consistent across random samples.
  • Curved plastic surfaces are checked from multiple angles.

Packaging and carton checks

  • Retail box, display box, OPP bag or insert card matches the approved artwork.
  • Barcode and SKU labels scan correctly if required.
  • Warnings, importer details and age labels are in the agreed position.
  • Inner quantity, master carton quantity and total carton count match the packing list.
  • Carton marks show PO number, SKU, destination, carton sequence and gross/net weight when needed.

Photos to request before shipment

For low MOQ orders, a practical photo set can reduce risk even when a third-party inspection is not used. Ask for product close-ups, logo close-ups, packaging photos, carton photos, random packed cartons and a short function video for electronic toys.

FAQ

Is third-party inspection always required?

Not always. For small promotional orders, supplier photos and function videos may be enough. For retail, children-focused or high-value orders, third-party inspection is safer.

When should quality issues be raised?

Raise issues before shipment whenever possible. After cartons leave the factory, rework options become slower and more expensive.
