When is a 3D printed prototype useful before production?

A 3D printed prototype should not automatically be treated as proof of final injection-molded material, surface, strength, tolerance or appearance. The approval record should state exactly what the prototype proves.
What can a sample fee include?
A sample fee is not automatically the price of one finished production unit. Depending on the project, it can include the blank product, logo setup, artwork work, packaging mockup, 3D print time and material, prototype preparation, function-specific setup, handling and courier freight. Whether a sample fee is credited against a later order is a commercial term that must be confirmed in the quotation.
How should sample timing be planned?
Plan backward from the required arrival or launch date. A fixed sample-time promise is not appropriate across all products because timing can change with artwork readiness, sample type, packaging, 3D file quality, prototype complexity, revisions and shipping route.
- Lock the product brief. Confirm product, function, dimensions, quantity, intended user and destination.
- Prepare the correct file or artwork. Confirm critical dimensions, assembly interfaces and branding details.
- Approve the digital direction first where useful. Catch geometry and layout problems before physical work.
- Review the correct physical evidence. Product, prototype, logo, function or packaging according to the written scope.
- Record corrections. Changes can affect price, sample route and production timing.
- Keep production and freight buffer. Do not use the event date itself as the factory completion date.
What should an approval record contain?

What is the difference between sample approval and bulk inspection?
Does Jinyu claim every order is “AQL inspected”?
No. If an AQL or another sampling method is required, the inspection level, defect classes, sample size and acceptance rules should be defined for that order. Jinyu does not use “AQL inspected” as a blanket site-wide claim.
What about testing and compliance?
Testing and certification claims must be tied to the exact product, material, age grade, function, packaging and destination. A 3D printed prototype or short-run part is not automatically suitable for regulated or safety-critical use. Use the Product-Specific Compliance Review when testing or documentation can affect the sample or production plan.
